Brunswick expands into the front and back bar business.

Expansion of the product line now includes elaborate and ornate front and back bars made of rich woods, flawless mirrors, and stained glass. Originally offered as special order items, demand from taverns grew so great that a new factory in Dubuque, Iowa, manufactured and shipped the bars around the world.

They continued making them until about 1912 when the market for them disappeared with the threat of Prohibition.

My plan this summer is to collect pictures of the back bars of the Black Hills.  There is 5 Antique back bars that I am aware of.

Bumpin’ Buffalo in Hill City

Saloon #10 in Deadwood

The Eagle Bar in Deadwood

The Sawtooth Saloon in Piedmont

And at the golf course in Hulett Wy.

When I have all the pictures collected I will post them here and create a map to all.  If you are an owner of any of these bars feel free to send me your bar history and pictures to include your business front & address.

Thanks, Mike Dewsbury
